Robert Crecelius, MSW

Robert is the Chief Parole and Probation Officer for the City of St. Louis. He received his undergraduate degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Missouri in 1978.

Robert attended the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis where he completed a Master of Social Work Degree in 1982. Robert has been affiliated with the Epidemiology and Prevention Research Group (EPRG) since 2002 serving in the capacity of consultant, assisting in the coordination of research involving females at high risk, drug courts and H.I.V. intervention. He participated in the establishment of a female drug court in 2000, the first mental health court in the state of Missouri in 2001 and a mental health jail diversion program in 2003.

In September 2008 Robert was awarded a NIDA funded Pre-Doctoral research fellow slot with EPRG. He is perusing a Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis and Administration at St. Louis University where he also serves in the capacity of Adjunct Professor with the Department of Health Management and Policy.

Robert’s research focus is the provision of services for non-violent, mentally ill individuals by the criminal justice system. His research interests include; mental health/jail diversion, alternatives to incarceration, interagency collaboration and the exchange of data, between the criminal justice and mental health systems.
