Congressman Clay Collaborates Shows Support For Community-Based Research

April 13, 2007—William Lacy Clay, Congressman for the 1st District visited the Epidemiology and Prevention Research Group (EPRG) to discuss collaboration on community-based research initiatives.  During the meeting, Congressman Clay was introduced to several ongoing research projects including Sisters Teaching Options for Prevention (STOP). In attendance were members of the STOP project, the EPRG staff and faculty, and the Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB is comprised of community leaders who help forward the progress of the STOP project. It is with this support and continuous involvement of community leaders that the EPRG is better able to be change-agents and positive deviants for vulnerable populations most frequently affected by substance abuse and its consequences, including HIV.
