Carmen Curtis, PhD

Carmen E. Curtis, PhD, is an NIMH-funded
post-doctoral fellow. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in
Psychology from Saint Louis University, she earned her Master of Arts and
PhD in Clinical Community Psychology from DePaul University. During
her graduate career, Dr. Curtis engaged in outreach with the Illinois
chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, including
conducting a needs assessment of the organization's supportive services.
She worked with this organization for her dissertation research as well.
Moreover, while completing her pre-doctoral clinical internship, Carmen
provided mental health services to an ethnically diverse population of
undergraduate students at the University of California, Irvine Counseling
Center.
Carmen is currently working with Barry Hong,
PhD on a research project examining characteristics of living organ
donors. Dr Curtis' other research interests include psychological
concerns, social support, coping skills, and illness-related
self-disclosure among persons with chronic health issues.
