Amy Hepler, MA

Amy joined the Epidemiology and Prevention Research
Group in May of 2008 as the coordinator for the newly formed Center for
Community Based Research (CCBR). The CCBR, which is funded through
the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA), strives to give
better access to populations who have traditionally been underrepresented
in clinical research studies; including women, minorities, and those of
lower socioeconomic status. This is done by conducting outreach in
the community on a daily basis, increasing awareness among community
groups and agencies, and by making research coordinators award of more
participants for their projects.
Prior to working at Washington University, Amy worked at Metro Homeless
Center, where she acted as the communications coordinator, office manager,
and executive assistant. She also coordinated resident and staff
events, assisted with volunteer activities and fundraising events, and
served on several committees. Amy was also employed at Planned
Parenthood for two years as an educator, counselor, and medical assistant
before she began work on her Master's degree. Amy graduated from
Michigan State University in 2002 with a BA in psychology, and in 2006
with an MA in Communication with an emphasis on Health Communication.
