Victoria Osborne, MSW


Victoria Osborne,
MSW, is a NIDA pre-doctoral fellow at the Washington University Department
of Psychiatry. She is currently a doctoral student at George Warren Brown
School of Social Work at Washington University. She obtained her Masters
of Social Work degree in 1998 at Washington University, where she also
obtained her bachelors degree in psychology in 1994.
Vickie is currently working on her dissertation. She is working at the
department of psychiatry with her mentor Dr. Linda Cottler, analyzing Dr.
Cottler’s Sister to Sister and Woman to Woman project data. Vickie’s
dissertation is on factors contributing to late onset alcohol dependence
in women. Her general research interests include women’s health issues,
underdetection of women’s alcohol misuse and comorbid mental disorders in
primary medical care settings, alcohol and prescription drug abuse in
older women, and prevention of addictions in adult women.
Vickie also teaches Human Behavior in the Social Environment at the George
Warren Brown School of Social Work. She is still actively involved in
numerous research projects at the School of Social Work as well as the
School of Medicine. She serves on the Research Committee of the United
Way of Greater St. Louis, and is an active community volunteer for
nonprofit organizations including the St. Louis Variety Club and Foster
Care and Adoptive Coalition.
