Veena Satyanarayana, PhD

Veena Satyanarayana, PhD is a NIH- Fogarty International Center funded post-doctoral research fellow. After receiving her Masters degree in Psychology from Bangalore University, Bangalore, India, she completed Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Psychology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India.

She was the Project Coordinator in a World AIDS Foundation funded, Indo-US study titled, “Community based intervention to reduce HIV infection among at risk women in Bangalore, India”. This project was a collaboration between NIMHANS, Bangalore, India, and Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO, USA. She also worked with SAMPARK, an NGO working towards women’s empowerment and poverty alleviation, as the mental health interventions specialist in their project titled, “Community based mental health intervention for women in rural Koppal, Karnataka, India”. This project was funded by the Anuradha Foundation, USA.

Her research interests include women’s mental health and bioethics. Furthermore, she hopes to conduct community based preventive and services research on an international scope in the area of mental health among vulnerable women.
