Nuri B. Farber, M.D. is currently an
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis.
He graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington University
and went on to receive his MD degree from the same institution. Dr. Farber
completed his residency training in psychiatry at Washington
University-Barnes Hospital. He is board certified in psychiatry with added
qualification in geriatric psychiatry. Since 1993 he has been an attending
psychiatrist at Barnes-Jewish and a faculty member at Washington
University. He currently conducts research on schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s
Disease and the effects of drugs of abuse on the brain for which he is the
principle investigator on research grants funded by the National
Institutes of Health.
In addition to his research and clinical responsibilities he is also the
Assistant Director of the psychiatry residency training program at
Washington University.
Dr. Farber's Research Interests:
1. NMDA glutamate antagonists and their effects on the brain
2. Drugs of abuse and their neurotoxic effects
3. Animal models of psychosis
4. Neurotoxicity
5. Alzheimer's Disease
