Rumi Kato Price, Ph.D., M.P.E., is currently Research Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) in St. Louis, MO, USA. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, completed her post-doctoral fellowship and subsequently joined the faculty in 1990 in the Department of Psychiatry, WUSM.

She is one of the first two recipients of the MPE degrees and currently Co-Director of National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Pre- and Post-Doctoral Training Program in Comorbidity and Biostatistics. She was a recipient of an Independent Scientist Award from NIDA and has conducted several NIMH and NIDA studies to date in the areas of psychiatric and substance abuse epidemiology. Her study aims are expanding to include human-genome epidemiology focusing on race/ethnicity and substance use and abuse, and genetic-behavioral-social models of post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse comorbidity.

Dr. Price is a native Japanese and has been collaborating with researchers from the Japan National Institute of Mental Health and Keio University. Among awards she has received includes a Medical Products Regulatory Science General Research Promotion award from the Nihon Koteisho Kyokai Foundation. Once an avid essay writer in Japanese, she hopes to find more time to enjoy fusion cooking and hot deep water bathing these days.
